Promises - God does what He says - but what does He say?
ENGLISH VERSION
"For no word from God will ever fail" Luke 1:37 NIV
28.05.2023 - A bible study
➡️ WHAT types of promises are there?
- Recorded Promises in His word
- Applied Promises in our experiences
➡️ WHEN - In what situation is it important to know what God has promised you?
- Storms (hard situations and circumstances)
➡️ WHAT are personal storms used for by God?
- For growth in a specific aspect (and later as a testimony to reach other people)
➡️ so WHERE do storms take place?
- In the process/ transition from one place to another (from one season in life to another) -> look verses at the bottom (mark)
[➡️ So what to keep in mind: In every Place there is a Purpose]
➡️ MEANS: Storms are also Tests
- A test in the old covenant that was already pointing to the promise of the new covenant: Abraham sacrifices Isaac -> the place of Isaacs sacrifice had a purpose
[Contradictions that came with this: Isaac was a promise himself to Sarah and Abraham -> theological; biblical-> murder; spiritual-> God told him to sacrifice Isaac and Worship; …
➡️ Hebrews 11:17-19 -> so Abraham thought WHAT was this test to bring out? Fruit-> he thought God would make Isaac rise from dead; this would be a miracle, God uses miracles for what? To strengthen faith (and to accomplish good) ( not only the faith of the people who the miracles happen to but also others -> a miracle brings a testimony.)
➡️ even though God did not made Isaac rise from the dead (because He stopped Abraham before he could offer him), there was a purpose -> in this case still to strengthen Abrahams faith but also trust toward God] AND in this hard sitiuation for Abraham he trusted God BECAUSE HE KNEW Gods promises (that God does nothing without a deeper purpose, like in Romans 8:28 for example).
-> KNOW the Promises He has made to His children
What Story do you know that is specifically about a storm?
➡️ Mark 4:35-40
- “to get on the other side” -> consider Mark 5:1-20 and we have confirmed that in every place there is a purpose and there might be a challenge in between
- Storm happens, panic among the disciples, Jesus SLEEPS -> WHY? Because He already knew what they could just assume and thought.
- He calms storm
- “Who is this?” -> It took an uncomfortable situation to show them the revelation of WHO WAS WITH THEM all along/ to make them conscious about Jesus power
➡️ What has started as a storm turned into a sermon and Jesus preached who He was not by what He said but by what He did.
➡️ WHAT does it shows?
1: There is nothing that God can’t turn around
2: Every Valley has a Purpose as well and every Purpose has a Promise.
➡️WHAT is the promise here?
- Nothing is impossible for Him (Jeremiah 32:27; Psalm 18:30, Luke 1:37)
- He is in control

In practise:
➡️What things/ thoughts/ mindsets do you personally struggle with the most? What Promises can you find that you can apply to these situations so you can meditate on them (joshua 1) when defeating the enemy?
