ENGLISH VERSION

In John 4:24 Jesus gives us a direct instruct of what true worship looks like.

“God is spirit [the source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.

Back when I was just starting to read the bible and was prideful thinking I am almost the perfect Christian (looking at what I did, what I thought others my age didn’t - i was 14/15 at that time) I have known worship as what I think most people think it is:

Singing songs, praising His name.

I’ve seen it as something outside of the body, surely it comes from within but I laid my focus a lot on how it looks from the outside

Now I know, that true worship is a condition of the heart, a heart posture thing and also a state of mind:

The condition/ posture of your heart and state of mind comes first (-> the worship for God is born in our hearts and fills our thoughts like Joyce Meyer explains pretty well), then things that can be recognised from the outside flow from it - its expressed through our words and actions.

This also means that not only the words that we say to Him and our actions, i.e. lifting our hands, kneeling before Him, giving the tenth’s etc., are worship. Our worship to God can be expressed through the way we treat others as well.

Conclusion

  • Worship is a condition of the heart and state of mind
  • In order to express worship by words and actions, the worship is birthed in our hearts and minds first and it fills our thoughts (-> proverbs 4:23

“Above all else guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it”)

  • God is spirit and therefore the source of life.
  • We can give God glory and worship Him through actions in general, how we treat others etc.
